"The final act loses steam, but there’s comic lunacy here worthy of MacGruber."

"Playdate isn’t a movie. It’s a compendium of clichés in search of one. What’s even worse is that the clichés are so stale."

"Commentary on fatherhood, toxic masculinity, and military culture can be found buried in this silly high-jinx buddy flick with nonstop action."

"Playdate is the worst movie of 2025 because it's so annoying. There is not one likeable character in the whole film."

Korey Coleman

"Ironically, the post credit gag reels show James and Ritchson having better chemistry just spontaneously playing off each other than most of the actual scripted segments. Maybe Playdate would have been better without a script?"

Stupid and predictable from the first scene onwards. My gut told me to bail out after 10 minutes but I kept watching for 15 more. Don't waste your time.

If you ever want to get rid of unwanted guests. Put this movie on and watch people leave quickly. This movie was beyond bad and we stopped watching ten minutes in. Minutes we will never get back.

I don’t know who allowed Playdate to escape whatever basement it was made in, but I need them arrested immediately. Kevin James spends the entire runtime wearing the expression of a man desperately searching for the exit sign of his own career, and honestly, I empathized on a spiritual level. Watching this film felt like being slapped across the face with a wet sock marinated in expired Capri Sun and then being told it was "cinema." Around the 30-minute mark I could genuinely feel my IQ leaking out of my ears like a faulty faucet, and by the time the credits rolled, I was left clutching my temples and whispering, "What happened?"
