"This film tosses up some interesting questions, including doctor-patient confidentiality versus duty to the state, but doesn’t explore them in a convincing manner."
"The film has only one flaw worth worrying about – but it’s a big one, almost derailing the whole narrative. It’s the casting of Malek."
"Sit through the first slow-paced, overproduced part and the reward for not giving up is a supreme history lesson."
"Russell Crowe mesmerizes as face of Nazi atrocities in fact-based drama."
"The screenplay suggests that casting people into legal limbo is a harbinger of darker times to come."
"A polished historical drama that confuses gravity with spectacle. Russell Crowe commands the screen, but James Vanderbilt’s film plays it too safe, offering solemnity without insight and prestige without true moral interrogation."
This was a powerful reminder about how easy it is for charismatic leaders to cause horrendous pain and suffering. It is really important that we heed history.
This was a superbly acted, well-paced film that was historically accurate. Crowe's portrayal of Goering was a masterclass in subtle, nuanced acting - absolutely electrifying. Great film, interesting subject matter and a great watch. I recommend watching this film, particularly if you are a WWII history buff.
Great movie! The HISTORY that must be known! Thank you !
Amazing movie and a part of history that needs to be re-told. Have known about the history of the trials but not this back story. Superb acting. A much needed movie given the rapidly fascist government movement of US. The motives began the Nuremberg defendants scarcely similar to today. History is so important to not repeat.
Brilliant acting, an untold story that EVERYONE should see. Oscar worthy
Authentic, well acted, super important topic regarding antisemitism, especially now. In light of all the antisemitism in the world right now, Dr Kelley was right that this philosophy of hating and wanting to eradicate Jews is not confined to the Nazis.
